That is where it gets unnecessarily convoluted, especially if you have a FrontEnd like LaunchBox and just want to make a double click on the game icon and for everything to just work, without anyone having to look for specific files. dat and making a new scan, you have to rebuild the stuff you extracted and that takes a while. you are making a mess of it again, so keeping the sets updated gets more convoluted than just downloading the latest. dat files don't match anymore if you later want to do a new rebuild/scan etc. cue file name in there, so you really need to extract those zip files and then you have no compression, the. m3u file (i have not found a way to create those automatically), you need to have the. The other problematic thing with REDUMP is that games on CD are sometimes multi disc,īut you get a zip (rar/7z) file for each disc, swapping Discs inside the emulators is sometimes more convoluted than just loading the next. I've never used TOSEC but there are a few things about REDUMP that bother me in actual usage.įirst, when downloading full sets, REDUMP includes all kinds of Demo Discs from magazines that i have no interest in, but there is no way to filter it and they don't even add a (Demo-Disc) tag or anything of the sort to it, not all of them have so obvious naming that you can just delete it by name and have to play test instead so that is a little bit time consuming to clean up.
